Our main focus is to promote the functionality of your teeth, and the aesthetic appearance of your smile. Since we are committed to providing you with the best services, we have in-stock state of the art medical equipment.

Below, we will give you a comprehensive list of our major service areas. Take note that our in-house dentists have extensive experience in installing implants – something which most dental clinics in West Rancho Dominguez do not offer.

Free Dental Exams

We will carry out a thorough medical examination of your teeth every 4 – 6 months. These dental exams are free. The primary goal of these exams is to make sure that your teeth are healthy. If we notice any oral health problems while we are examining you, we will start the treatment process right away. This way, we will treat all the dental issues that you may have in their early stages. We usually carry out these exams during your first visit.

Digital X-Rays

We utilize modern, digital X-rays to examine your oral health. These X-rays produce high-quality images of the inner parts of your teeth. These images are reflected on an LCD monitor, and you will be able to view them. They are incredibly detailed, and you can even discern by yourself the exact problem that your tooth has. They have 90% less radiation. We also have intraoral minicameras. We utilize these cameras to take photos of your gums and teeth. From these photos, you can know whether you have a dental health problem.

White, Composite Fillings

If you (or we) find out that you have any teeth cavities, we will fill them in with white, composite fillings. The resin material that we utilize is stain-resistant, strong, and durable when compared to silver, amalgam fillings. Since resin fillings are durable and sturdy, we will not remove a lot of your tooth material when filling it. Furthermore, resin fillings can easily match your teeth contours, and you will be able to have a natural-looking smile.

Terms and Questions

Dental Implants

You should go for a dental implant when you have a missing or broken tooth. These implants are usually permanent and fixed. All our implants match the contours and color of your other teeth.

Why Should I Opt for a Dental Implant?

You should opt for a dental implant if one of your teeth is missing or severely damaged beyond repair. Apart from aesthetic reasons, you should replace your missing teeth to protect yourself from further damage. Missing teeth can affect you negatively in many ways. For instance, they may cause other teeth to fall out of their positions and expose them to chipping. Also, they may prevent you from speaking and chewing properly; and your muscles can start deteriorating. This is why you must replace them immediately. Of course, you can opt for dentures and bridges, but they may not be the best solution. Dental implants are superior to bridges and dentures, and they are increasingly becoming more popular. Since dental implants are fixed and permanent, they are deemed to be the most technologically advanced way of replacing lost teeth.

What are the Benefits of Dental Implants?

Here are some of the major benefits of dental implants:

  • It is the best method that you can use to replace lost teeth. Dental implants, unlike bridges, do not depend on other adjacent teeth for support.
  • Unlike dentures and bridges, dental implants look and feel natural. This is because they match the color and shape of your other teeth.
  • Implants usually replace the whole tooth, right from the crown to the root. An implanted tooth will fuse with your natural bone tissues, making it stronger and more stable.
  • Implants won't require you to change the way you drink, eat, or maintain your teeth. All you need to do is to floss and brush as per your routine.
  • Implants do not endanger your gums and bone tissues.
  • Implants can help you save money because they are highly durable and you won't have to make routine visits to the dentist for readjustments.

Root Canals

When your tooth is badly damaged, and it can't be easily filled, you should opt for a root canal. Here, we remove the infected areas of your tooth; including the inside nerve tissues. Then, we clean it and fill it up with ‘gutta-percha.' After we have filled it, we will cover it with a crown. This way, your tooth will remain strong, and it will be resistant to decay and future breakdown.

Dental Crowns

We offer different crown types. Some of them include porcelain, resin, metal, and ceramic. You can choose one of them, with reference to your lifestyle. We will guide you in the decision-making process and help you select a crown type that is the right fit for you.

Teeth Whitening

Our teeth whitening procedures will eliminate deep, clinging, and colored stains from your teeth. With our help, your teeth can become pure white. Of course, you can use DIY teeth whitening methods; but they aren’t that effective. Professional teeth whitening will give you fast results, and it is long-lasting too.

Veneers and Bonding

During the bonding process, we will apply the white resin to stubborn discolorations and chips on your teeth. Then, we will direct a high-intensity light to your teeth to cure them. After the bonding process, all the imperfections of your teeth will be removed or hidden. Veneers can also help remove teeth imperfections, especially when you would like to transform a large part of your tooth. Furthermore, you can opt for porcelain veneers if you intend to cover up an interdental gap.

Braces

There are different types of braces in the dental world today. For instance, there are traditional metal braces, ceramic braces, Invisalign, and lingual braces. Here is a detailed explanation of each of them:

  • Traditional metallic braces. These are the most common type of braces. They are also the cheapest, but easily noticeable. However, modern metallic braces are much smaller in size, and no one can notice them quite easily. Moreover, they have heat-activated archwires, which will help your teeth move more quickly and less painfully.
  • Ceramic braces. Ceramic braces resemble traditional metallic braces, with the exception that they can blend in well with your teeth. This makes them less noticeable. Ceramic braces are more expensive than traditional braces, but they can stain easily; especially if you don't maintain them well.
  • Lingual braces. These braces work the same way as metallic braces, but they are usually fixed inside your teeth. They tend to be invisible from the outside. Their primary disadvantage is that they are difficult to clean. Also, they are expensive and can make you feel uncomfortable. They may require you to visit us regularly for routine adjustments.
  • Typically, Invisalign braces are custom made and are clear in color. They are removable, and you should replace them every two weeks. These braces are completely invisible, and you can comfortably drink and eat while wearing them. However, they may not be suitable for patients who have serious periodontal problems. Moreover, they are only available to teens and adults, not kids. They are also costly and can be easily misplaced or lost.

We have all these types of braces in our West Rancho Dominguez clinic, and we will help you choose the right brace type.

Dentures and Bridges

Sometimes, dental bridges may be the best method of replacing missing teeth. As per your specific dental situation, we can carry out Maryland, traditional, or cantilever bridges. We also provide removable or fixed dentures if you have several missing teeth.

Tooth Extraction

Sometimes, you may have to pull off some of your permanent teeth. This is especially in situations where one of your teeth is badly damaged because of decay and trauma, and it can't be repaired easily. Other reasons for tooth extraction include awkward teeth alignment and periodontal diseases. At Washington Dental, we offer tooth extraction services. Don't fear to go through this procedure – our dentists utilize strong anesthetics to prevent you from feeling pain. We use specialized tools to pull off your teeth, and we will make sure that we prevent any unnecessary bleeding. Make sure that you inform us of your complete medical history before we extract your tooth. This is because tooth extraction is a risky procedure, and you may develop severe infections from it. If we know your full medical history, we will be able to give you specific antibiotics before and after the extraction process to prevent these infections. After the extraction process, we will send you back home. You will take a couple of days to recover. You can do the following to speed recovery and minimize discomfort:

  • Take the prescribed painkillers
  • Apply an ice bag to the affected gum area to reduce swelling
  • Relax for around 24 hours, and don’t indulge in your normal activities
  • Avoid smoking
  • Avoid drinking from a straw within the first 24 hours after the tooth extraction process
  • Eat only soft foods such as yogurt, apple sauce, pudding, or soup
  • Don’t lie flat, raise your head using pillows to prevent excessive bleeding
  • Continue to floss and brush your teeth regularly, but avoid the extracted site

If the bleeding or pain becomes more severe within four hours after the tooth extraction, you should inform us immediately. Also, call us if you start experiencing fever, nausea, excessive discharge, cough, chest pain, among other signs of illness. Over time, new gum and bone tissue will fill the gap, and you will heal completely. However, a missing tooth may cause the other teeth to shift positions and arrange themselves awkwardly. This will make it difficult for you to chew, bite, and speak. In such situations, we may advise you to opt for an implant, denture, or fixed bridge.
